Pediatric eye surgery and vision care in Sullana.
VER's work in Sullana includes pediatric strabismus surgery, vision screening, refraction, and eyeglasses. Its surgical projects are planned with Hospital de Apoyo II-2 and Ministry of Health teams.

Pediatric eye surgery
Strabismus is a condition in which the eyes are not aligned. VER recruits qualified pediatric ophthalmology, anesthesia, nursing, and technical volunteers for projects planned with the host hospital.

Vision screening
Optometrists and project volunteers support structured eye screening for adults and children. Screening helps identify people who may need refraction, glasses, or additional local care.

Refraction and eyeglasses
Refraction determines an eyeglass prescription. VER provides the optometric supplies and glasses used during screening projects.

The hospital published reports on VER-supported pediatric strabismus projects in 2023 and 2025. A third project is scheduled for 2026.
